This phenomenon is tied to the legend of a man who was murdered by vigilantes after killing his employer's family, and then was hanged from the bridge. In the early 1900s, a hired hand murdered his employer's family and was chased by vigilantes. The vigilantes caught the hired hand and hanged him from the former train trestle that spanned Logan Creek. The ghost of the bridge is said to appear to people who look at the creek. It is described as a dark smudge in one's peripheral vision. The bridge is no longer present but the legend of the "Ghost Bridge" remains.
