Captain Bailey Museum, Brownville
The Bailey House Museum in Brownville, Nebraska is reportedly haunted by the ghost of Rebecca Bailey, a woman who allegedly died at the bottom of the stairs in the house in 1880 after being poisoned by a jealous neighbor. Visitors and staff have reported paranormal activity, including doors that won't stay closed and phantom piano music. The museum is housed in a historic, seven-gabled Victorian residence that was rebuilt on its current site in 1877. Guests and staff have heard music playing from the house at night. Doors that refuse to stay closed have been reported. Captain Bailey returned home in 1880 to find his wife, Rebecca, at the foot of the stairs, near the door. Rumors suggest she was poisoned by a jealous neighbor. Her spirit is said to still inhabit the house.
