The Dude Rancher Lodge in Billings is a reportedly haunted hotel where guests and staff have experienced various paranormal events, including lights and televisions turning on by themselves, children running in the halls, and a female voice in the basement. Many believe these occurrences are tied to the spirit of Annabel Goan, a former owner. Guests have reported hearing children running and playing in the hallways at night, even when no children are present, and a mysterious female voice has been caught on audio in the basement. A distinct female voice was captured on an audio recording in the hotel's basement. Lights and televisions have been observed turning on and off on their own. Guests and employees have reported hearing knocking on doors when no one is there. A guest also experienced her phone's music changing to 1950s tunes and receiving messages from a spirit. There is heavy paranormal activity in the service tunnels beneath the lodge, and some employees are too scared to walk through them. Employees have reported witnessing dryer settings change on their own and the dryer starting in the middle of the night. Many believe the former owner, Annabel Goan, is behind the hauntings. After her husband died, she was left to run the lodge and raise their children alone. Her spirit is thought to be watching over the facility. The presence of these spirits is believed by some to be a sign that they want to be noticed.
