Walnut Street Inn, Springfield
The Walnut Street Inn in Springfield, MO, built in 1894, is said to be haunted by its original owner, Katherine McGann, who died in the house and now appears in Victorian clothing, often sitting on guests' beds, pulling blankets off, and yelling "Get out of my room!". Other reported phenomena include self-opening doors, sounds of activity when the house is empty, and a female apparition in the bathroom mirror. The most prominent and frequently reported presence is a woman in Victorian-era clothing, believed to be Katherine McGann, the wife of the home's original builder, Charles McGann. Guests have reported seeing the woman sitting at the end of their bed, in the bathroom mirror, or standing in the room. Katherine is also known for interacting with guests by pulling off blankets or even speaking directly to them. Staff and guests have also reported experiencing doors opening and closing on their own, as well as hearing unexplained noises, such as other people walking around when the house is empty.
