Charles B. Leach House Kansas City
A 19th-century mansion once home to lumber magnate Charles B. Leach, the building was later repurposed as a home for unwed mothers and a women's shelter. The combination of its long history and use as a shelter for vulnerable women has created a persistent reputation for paranormal activity. Disembodied footsteps have been heard walking through the house when no one is present. Visitors also report hearing the sound of ghostly laughter. Mysterious shadows and figures are said to be seen moving in the foyer out of the corner of one's eye. It is believed that the spirits of both the home's founder, Charles B. Leach, and some of the women who died there are the source of the hauntings.
