Waverly Plantation, West Point
Waverly Plantation in West Point, MS is considered one of Mississippi's most haunted houses, with reports of paranormal activity including piano music, a little girl crying "Mama" and appearing on stairs and beds, the ghost of Colonel Young in mirrors, and the spirit of Major John riding a horse. The ghost of Mrs. Snow is seen smoking on the third floor, and some also report seeing tipsy men walking in the hallway, potentially related to the mansion's history of lavish parties. The Little Girl: This is the most active ghost. She is seen on the stairs and in beds, crying "Mama," and is described as a four or five-year-old girl in a white dress with dark blonde hair. Pennies are sometimes found moved by her spirit, and her reflection has appeared in red glass panes. The ghost of Colonel Young, likely the plantation's original owner, is reportedly seen in mirrors while wearing his uniform. A spirit identified as an Indian, Major John, has been seen riding a stallion across the fields. After her death, Mrs. Snow has been seen smoking on the third-floor stairs. Additionally, the eyes of her portrait are said to follow visitors. Locals report hearing faint piano music coming from the mansion, thought to be echoes of the elaborate parties held there. Some accounts describe seeing men walking around the hallway, appearing to be intoxicated.
