The Horse You Came In On Saloon, Baltimore
The Horse You Came In On Saloon in Baltimore is considered one of the most haunted places in Maryland, with the ghost of Edgar Allan Poe as its most famous reported apparition. The building, located in the historic Fells Point district, has been a bar since 1775 and is widely believed to be the last place Poe drank before his mysterious death in 1849. A "last stop" haunt: Patrons and staff attribute many of the saloon's unusual events to the ghost of Poe, who is said to still frequent the bar. A designated seat and plaque marking "Poe's Last Stop" further immortalize his supposed presence. Staff and regulars have reported unexplained phenomena, such as lights and TVs switching on and off. A former manager noted that glasses would be inexplicably knocked down and drinks spilled, which he believed was Poe's doing. Some of the more dramatic paranormal events include chandeliers swinging, a glass shattering for no reason, and the cash register popping open on its own. Visitors have reported seeing reflections or images in mirrors that were not their own. Some patrons and employees express feeling uneasy when alone in the bar, particularly when closing up for the night. In addition to the bar area, paranormal activity has also been reported on the fourth floor, where a desk drawer was seen opening on its own.
