Kent Manor Inn, Stevensville
The Kent Manor Inn, now known as the Kent Island Resort, is reportedly haunted by the ghost of a former resident, Alexander Williamson Thompson. Legend says Thompson died by suicide by hanging himself in what is now Room 210 of the hotel. Reports of paranormal activity associated with Thompson's ghost include: The smell of phantom cigar smoke, Eerie lights appearing in the hallways, Disembodied footsteps and voices, and Doors opening and closing on their own. Alexander Thompson and his family took ownership of the Kent Manor property in 1843. He was responsible for adding the central portion of the manor house shortly before the Civil War. The manor house was converted into an inn in the 20th century and was later renamed the Kent Island Resort.
