The Victoriana Inn (formerly Aida's Victoriana Inn) in St. Michaels, Maryland, is rumored to be haunted by the ghost of a man who died in one of the upstairs rooms. According to local legend, this polite male spirit still lingers at the inn and leaves money around the house for the current owner. The ghost story, shared by the bed and breakfast's former innkeeper, involves a gentleman who was staying in an upstairs room. He had been a pleasant guest upon check-in and planned to pay for his stay when he departed. The next morning, the innkeeper received a call from a woman claiming to be the guest's wife. She was unable to reach him and asked the innkeeper to check on him. The innkeeper entered his room and found him unresponsive. It is said that the gentleman had passed away in his sleep. After the traumatic experience, the innkeeper had the room completely redecorated and never disclosed which room it was. Even after his death, the gentleman's ghost reportedly remains at the inn, and his kind nature persists. According to the legend, he is the spirit who leaves money, typically pennies, for the owners.
