Fort McHenry is reportedly haunted by soldiers from the War of 1812, with sightings of figures in 1812 uniforms, spectral soldiers, and even a female prisoner in a Victorian dress. There are also tales of a hostile female ghost, potentially a mother grieving lost children, who has pushed and knocked people unconscious. A warm spot on a wall, possibly a place of death, and odd sounds have also been reported. Many visitors and reenactors have claimed to see or sense the presence of soldiers, some described as wearing white cross belts and blue coats. One account mentioned two soldiers who appeared to be killed by the British. A woman in a Victorian-era dress was spotted looking out of a second-floor window before vanishing. This female spirit is said to push people down stairs and cause others to lose consciousness. Some believe this ghost might be the wife of a noncommissioned officer whose children died of illness in the 1920s. A warm spot has been felt by some when touching a certain section of the wall, possibly related to past events. Sightings of soldiers dressed as they were in the War of 1812 have been noted, with reports of figures wearing white cross belts, blue coats, white pants, and boots.
