The Admiral Fell Inn is considered one of Baltimore's most haunted hotels due to its history and numerous reported paranormal experiences, including sightings of a "Lilac Lady" and other apparitions, disembodied voices, mysterious noises like phantom parties, and cold spots, often linked to the inn's past as a boarding house for seamen and its complex of historic buildings in the Fells Point neighborhood. The inn is composed of seven historic buildings, with structures dating back to the 1770s, creating a layered history and numerous potential ghosts. Seamen and Boarding House: The inn, and the surrounding Fells Point area, have a long history connected to the sea, with the Anchorage, a boarding house for wounded seamen, being a part of its past. Some legends suggest parts of the buildings may have served as a brothel and a site of a violent murder of a conventioneer in 1999, contributing to its reputation for restless spirits. Guests and staff have reported seeing a "Lilac Lady," a female spirit leaving the scent of lilacs, and a ghostly figure of a sailor. There are stories of inexplicable noises, such as a raucous party heard in an empty hotel during Hurricane Isabel, and furniture mysteriously rearranged. Disembodied voices and localized cold spots are also reported by those who have been in the building. Guests have described doors opening on their own, and their dogs barking at seemingly empty spaces, leading them to paranormal discoveries.
