St. Louis Cathedral, New Orleans
The St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans is reportedly haunted by two ghostly priests: Père Antoine (Father Antonio de Sedella) and Père Dagobert. Père Antoine, a priest whose body is buried in the church, is said to appear during Mass with a candle or walk the alley named after him, while Père Dagobert's chanting voice can be heard on rainy days. The cathedral is also a historical burial site, with bodies of prominent citizens buried under the church, contributing to its reputation for supernatural activity. Père Antoine's Apparition: He is said to appear during Christmas Midnight Mass, holding a candle near the left side of the altar, and is sometimes seen through the stained-glass windows. He also appears in the early mornings in Pere Antoine Alley, which is named after him. This Capuchin friar, who arrived in New Orleans in 1722 and served as priest of the parish in the mid-1700s, is said to have his voice heard chanting in the cathedral on rainy days. Reports include sightings of a ghostly priest walking out of the Cathedral or tending to the sick in New Orleans. Some stories mention hearing swords clashing in the garden behind the cathedral at night.
