Oak Alley Plantation, Vacherie
Oak Alley Plantation is reportedly haunted by various phenomena, including the sound of an invisible horse and carriage, a spectral shadow, and a flying candlestick, all observed by staff and guests. The historical site was built on a sugarcane plantation and is a popular destination for paranormal enthusiasts due to this alleged activity. Some visitors and tour guides report hearing the sound of a horse and carriage coming up the gravel road or alley, sometimes accompanied by a cloud of dust, even though nothing is present. A shadowy figure has been seen looking out of a window on the property. A candlestick has been seen flying across a room, observed by 35 tourists during one tour. Staff once observed the lights on in the mansion after all the lights had been turned off, and the figure of the last resident owner appeared in the window.
