The Simpson College Old Chapel (also called College Hall) is reportedly haunted by the spirit of Mildred Hedges, a freshman student who died there in 1935 after falling on the stairs. Paranoia includes strange noises, a piano playing a single note, flickering lights, shadows, and a feeling of being tapped on the shoulder. The haunting reportedly intensified after paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren conducted a seance in the building in 1979, according to a Facebook post. Mildred Hedges was a freshman student who fell to her death in 1935 after catching her heel on the steep stairs in College Hall and falling over the railing. Since her death, her spirit is said to be restless, causing paranormal activity within the building. A janitor on their second day of work heard loud crashing noises like chain link gates. Others have reported hearing a piano playing a single key. People have reported seeing flickering lights, and shadows or silhouettes of a woman's face in an upper-floor window. A staff member reported a hair-raising sensation on the back of their neck and felt a presence tap them on the shoulder.
