Valparaiso University's campus has rumors of hauntings, particularly in Alumni Hall, where students have reported seeing and hearing ghostly children, often described as running in the halls and playing tag around 2 AM. Stories include encounters with children in dresses and joggings pants, as well as sounds of screaming and running children. These reports have circulated since the hall's opening, with a VUTV investigation in 2012 interviewing residents about these apparitions and noises. The most prominent reports involve two ghostly children, around 8 or 9 years old, one seen in a dress and the other in jogging pants. They are said to run up and down the halls late at night, particularly around 2 AM, and sometimes speak to residents, claiming they were playing tag. The hauntings have been most frequently associated with room 337 in Alumni Hall. Residents have also reported hearing screams at night and seeing the apparition of a child in a mirror.
