The Old Kosciusko County Jail in Warsaw, Indiana, is described as a very paranormally active place with reports of disembodied voices, apparitions, unexplained touches, and sudden scratches on visitors, along with the alleged sightings of Annie Chaplin, a murder victim, and Gwy Smith, her killer. The former jail, now housing the Kosciusko Historical Society and Genealogy Library, has documented at least eight violent deaths and is a location where spirits are believed to manifest by amassing energy, according to Visit Kosciusko County. Reports include shadowy figures and full-bodied apparitions, with the spirits of Annie Chaplin and Gwy Smith being commonly encountered. Disembodied voices and unexplained footsteps are frequent occurrences. Visitors and volunteers have reported feeling touched, and in some cases, experiencing scratch marks that appear suddenly. Spirits are believed to manifest by amassing energy in the building. A group also claims to have encountered the spirit of a child on the building's stairway.
