The Givins Castle (also known as the Givins Beverly Castle or Irish Castle) in Chicago has been the subject of persistent haunted tales, though the current owners and historical society have pushed back against many of the most prominent myths. Now home to the Beverly Unitarian Church and Beverly Castle Preschool, the building is the site of a mix of local folklore, historical inaccuracies, and some reported individual experiences. Paranormal reports from the preschool Staff and children at the Beverly Castle Preschool, which operated in the castle, have reported paranormal encounters, particularly in the basement and on the upper floors. Children at the daycare reported seeing a "mean man" in a play tunnel and a dark corner of the basement. Former staff members have heard disembodied voices when no one else was around. Toys were reportedly found rearranged into a circle, which unsettled a former cleaner. After the preschool closed, cameras were installed that purportedly captured paranormal footage. Other unexplained phenomena have also been reported over the years. These include: Mysterious voices, Unexplained moving objects, Flickering lights, and Strange orbs.
