Robinson Woods, Chicago

Robinson Woods is considered haunted due to alleged paranormal phenomena including disembodied drums, ax sounds, floating lights or orbs, and unexplained lilac and lily scents, particularly near a large rock marking the site of the Robinson family homestead and burial grounds. The area is historically connected to Alexander Robinson, an American Indian chief who was granted the land in 1829, and the location of a tragic 1955 event where three boys' bodies were found beaten at the woods' edge, an unsolved case until a 1994 arrest. Visitors and investigators have reported hearing sounds of war drums, trees being felled by an axe, and seeing floating orbs and lights. Unexplained scents, particularly of lilacs and lilies, are sometimes detected near the giant rock, even in winter.
