The Chicago Chop House is rumored to be one of the most haunted restaurants in Illinois, with paranormal activity linked to its former residents. The restaurant is located inside a historic, three-story brownstone built in 1872 for the Minier family. The alleged paranormal activity is said to be caused by the spirits of two former family members: Robert Minier and his nine-year-old daughter, Florence. The ghost of Florence: According to legend, Florence Minier died in 1906 and her spirit has remained in the house. She is believed to be the source of many of the strange occurrences, and her ghost has reportedly been seen and heard in the building. Guests and staff have reported hearing unexplained voices and whispers in different areas of the restaurant. In a manner similar to other alleged hauntings in the city, items in the restaurant have been known to move on their own. One reported instance involved a salt and pepper shaker flying from one table to the fireplace. Doors and faucets have reportedly been seen opening and closing on their own accord. It is important to note that accounts of the Chicago Chop House's haunting are anecdotal and based on local legend. Whether the restaurant is truly haunted is up for debate.
