Wahiawa Botanical Garden, Oahu
The area around the Wahiawa Botanical Garden is associated with the legend of the "Green Lady," a green-skinned, moss-haired spirit believed to be a woman or a moahine (lizard goddess) who searches for a lost child or seeks sacrifices. She is sometimes depicted with jagged teeth and seaweed for hair and is said to dwell in the nearby Wahiawa Gulch. There are stories of the Green Lady causing men to disappear in the area, particularly around Lake Wilson. She is described as a terrifying figure with green, scaly skin, dagger-like teeth, and hair made of seaweed and rotten moss. Some legends connect her to a powerful female lizard deity or guardian of the gulch. One story says she is the spirit of a woman who lost her child in the gulch and now searches for them eternally.
