The Savannah College of Art and Design's Oglethorpe House is known for its hauntings, with reports of a female ghost seen in hallways and a specific incident of a female student's suicide in Room 600/601. Other phenomena include unexplained noises like scraping, marbles rolling in Room 416, and a falling scream. Another haunted building, Poetter Hall, formerly housed a girls' orphanage and has been linked to the apparitions of the orphanage's caretaker and sounds of children's laughter. Oglethorpe House (SCAD dorm): A transparent female figure has been seen in the hallways and rooms. A female student allegedly took her own life in Room 600 or 601. Mysterious scraping sounds, the sound of a rolling marble, and a falling scream have been reported in various rooms. Low-pressure wind has been reported in bathroom areas, causing ceiling tiles to lift into the gaps. The building's site was previously occupied by the Savannah Female Orphan Asylum, where some girls were not treated well. The matron, Susan Bell, died from smoke inhalation while trying to save the children during a fire in 1855. Guests and staff have reported seeing the ghosts of soldiers, and some claim to hear children giggling and playing.
