Bonaventure Cemetery is described as a beautiful but haunted location, with numerous reports of ghost sightings, including the well-known spirit of Little Gracie Watson, who is seen near her life-sized statue. Visitors also report hearing mysterious sounds like crying and giggling, and seeing shadowy figures and Grimacing statues moving among the tombstones. Little Gracie Watson: This is perhaps the most famous ghost, a little girl in a white dress often seen playing or gliding near her life-sized statue. Reports include crying, giggling children, and, in one instance, a pack of snarling dogs. Visitors claim to see shadowy forms moving through the cemetery grounds. Some statues in the cemetery are said to change their expressions or even move. Some visitors have reported seeing tears of blood streaming down from the eyes of an angel statue. Corinne Lawton: The tragic legend of Corinne, a wealthy woman who drowned herself for love, is also associated with the cemetery. The cemetery is said to be populated by souls with troubled lives, some having committed suicide and others having suffered untimely deaths. The land itself has a dark history, having been a plantation before it became a cemetery, and it served as a hospital and escape route for soldiers in earlier times.
