Red Brook Inn, Old Mystic
The Red Brook Inn in Old Mystic is reportedly haunted by several spirits, including Nancy Cracy, a gray-haired woman in a shawl seen in the North Room, who is said to have saved lives from a fire. Another reported spirit is a previous owner's wife, who banned her best friend from the inn after discovering an affair. Paranormal activity, such as noises, moving objects, and electrical disturbances, have been reported in various rooms, particularly the Adelaide room and its bathroom. Nancy Cracy: A woman who may have died in a fire, she is often seen in the North Room. The Owner's Wife: A woman who reportedly banished her husband's mistress from the inn. Paranormal Activity in the Adelaide Room: This room, named for Captain Grant's wife, Mercy Adelaide Grant, is considered the most active. Visitors have reported hearing noises from the attic, finding shower curtains moved, lamps turning on and off, and loud crashing sounds in the bathroom. A 1999 guest reported hearing someone wearing boots in the attic. A lamp in the Adelaide Room has been observed turning on and off repeatedly. The inn was built in 1770 by the Crary family.
