Majestic Theater, Bridgeport
The Majestic Theater in Bridgeport, Connecticut, is alleged to be haunted by shadowy figures and the muffled sounds of a crowd, potentially due to being built on Native American burial grounds. Now abandoned, the once-glamorous theater has a number of paranormal tales associated with it. Opened in 1922: The Majestic was once a bustling entertainment venue in downtown Bridgeport, able to hold 3,000 people during its heyday. The theater's popularity waned, and after being sold and reopened several times, it closed permanently in 1975. The building is abandoned and is largely used as a storage space for a local theater company. The original opulent lobby was destroyed and replaced with retail shops. Visitors and ghost hunters have reported seeing shadowy figures moving through the auditorium. The distant, garbled sounds of a large crowd have also been heard echoing through the empty theater. According to one account, the paranormal activity could be linked to the complex having been built on a Native American burial ground, as artifacts were allegedly found during construction.
