The Imperial Hotel in Cripple Creek is rumored to be haunted by George Long, a former owner, and his daughter, who was locked away due to a mental disorder. Hauntings include the sounds of George lingering around the casino and his daughter's scratching and cries from her room, which is now the Red Rooster Bar. Staff and visitors also report hearing the sound of coins and slot machines late at night. The ghost of the hotel's early 20th-century owner, who is believed to remain at the property. His spirit is said to be connected to the casino area. Another significant spirit is the daughter of George Long. She was allegedly locked in an apartment next to the hotel due to a severe mental illness. Staff and visitors have heard sounds of her scratching at the door. After closing, the sound of coins and slot machines can sometimes be heard, which is attributed to the presence of George Long. The hotel was built in 1896, after a fire destroyed much of Cripple Creek. It was initially called the Collins Hotel.
