The former Toys R Us in Sunnyvale, CA, is believed to have been haunted by the ghost of Johnny Johnson, a farmhand from the 1800s who died on the land after a farm accident. The ghost reportedly played with toys, caused items to fall, and created disturbances like slammed doors and faucets turning on by themselves, according to former employees and television reports. The haunting gained notoriety after being featured on the 1980s TV show That's Incredible! and a 1991 CBS special, Haunted Lives: True Ghost Stories. The Legend of Johnny Johnson. The Toys R Us store was built on land that was once a farm belonging to the Murphy family. Johnny Johnson, a Scandinavian immigrant, worked on the farm and was studying to be a preacher. He fell in love with John Murphy's daughter, but she left with a wealthy lawyer. In a tragic accident, Johnson accidentally cut his leg while chopping wood, bled to death, and died on the property. His spirit is said to roam the store, specifically the back aisles, women's restroom, and the area that used to be aisle 15C. Toys would be found on the floor, baby swings moved on their own, and toy cars would run on their tracks after closing, according to a YouTube video. Staff and visitors reported hearing footsteps, whispers, and their names being called out. Female staff members reported their hair being tugged or played with. Faucets turning on and off and doors slamming in the women's restroom were also reported.
