Green Street Hotel, Pasadena
The Green Street Hotel, now known as the Castle Green apartment building, is said to be haunted by a female ghost in a white gown who wanders the top floors. Other reported hauntings include phantom footsteps, faucets turning on by themselves, doorknobs jiggling, rattling chains, and disembodied voices, potentially linked to past tragedies like a servant boy crushed in the laundry apparatus. Residents and visitors report hearing unseen footsteps moving through the halls. Reports include doorknobs that turn on their own and faucets that suddenly start sputtering or running. Some accounts mention the unsettling sound of rattling chains within the building. Sepulchral music has been heard late at night, and elevator operators have reported hearing voices. The most prominent ghost is a woman dressed in a white nightgown or Victorian gown, often seen wandering the upper floors of the building. The building, a grand hotel in the late 19th century, experienced tragedies such as the accidental death of a servant boy in the laundry machinery. Due to its haunted reputation, Castle Green has been used as a filming location for television shows like NCIS, CSI, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
