The Crowne Plaza Phoenix-Chandler Golf Resort (formerly the San Marcos Hotel) is reported to have multiple hauntings, including sightings of a floating female figure, mysterious phone calls from nonexistent extensions, moans from empty spaces, and the laughter of young girls in the basement, possibly attributed to spirits of two women, Monica and Henrietta, who drowned in the resort's irrigation tunnels decades ago. Guests and staff have reported seeing a female figure that appears to float. The resort receives internal calls from room numbers or extensions that no longer exist. Moans have been heard from empty spaces, and the laughter of little girls is said to echo from the basement. Some believe the basement phenomena are connected to the spirits of two women named Monica and Henrietta, who drowned in the irrigation tunnels in the 1960s. The resort was originally the San Marcos Hotel, opened in 1912, making it a historic site in downtown Chandler. It has been a significant location in the area, even hosting Golden Age movie stars like Clark Gable and Fred Astaire.
