The Bird Cage Theatre in Tombstone is described as a place of many hauntings due to its violent and bawdy history as a gambling den, saloon, and brothel. Visitors report feeling a presence, smelling roses, seeing apparitions like a prostitute named Margarita, and hearing unexplained noises such as music and laughter. The building also contains original artifacts and numerous bullet holes from its past. Over 20 people allegedly died in the building from shootings, stabbings, and suicide, including the murder of a prostitute known as Margarita. The theater was known for its 24/7 operation as a brothel, gambling hall, and saloon, attracting both miners and wealthy individuals. The theater was sealed and preserved, leading to the accumulation of historical artifacts and what some believe are lingering spirits. Visitors and staff have reported seeing female figures, including a young prostitute named Rose, and a mysterious man in black pacing on the stage. Some visitors experience the scent of roses, believed to be connected to Rose or Margarita. Eerie music and unseen laughter are sometimes heard, and objects are reported to move on their own. Ghostly touches and a general sense of unseen energy are experienced by many visitors. A mannequin in the basement is known to turn its head, and a dark presence is felt in that area. The building contains original gambling tables, a bar, whiskey bottles, and other relics from the 1880s. The walls are decorated with over 140 bullet holes from the era's drunken cowboys. The theatre was left in a state of preserved disarray, offering a unique glimpse into the past.
