Morton Hall at Northern Arizona University is rumored to be haunted by the ghost of a long-term resident named "Kathy" and possibly other spirits, with reported paranormal activity including phantom footsteps, electrical malfunctions, faucets turning on by themselves, and the sighting of a woman in a blue nightgown. The building, built in 1913, is considered a center for campus creepiness, and students have also reported other phenomena like strange noises and strong scents. The most well-known entity is "Kathy the Ghost," a long-term resident. Other accounts mention sightings of a woman in a blue nightgown. Students have reported hearing phantom footsteps, screams from the ground, and strange banging in the night. Lights flicker, and radios or television sets have been known to turn on randomly. Water faucets have been observed to turn on and off without human intervention. There are also reports of the walls changing color (specifically turning pink), the scent of roses, and covers being pulled off beds while students are asleep. Morton Hall was built in 1913. It originally opened as a women's dormitory in 1918 and was named after Mary Morton Pollock, who headed the English department and provided financial aid to students. The large, monolithic building is known for its eerie glow at night and is considered a significant hub of paranormal activity on NAU's North Campus.
