Golden North Hotel, Skagway
The haunting of Skagway's Golden North Hotel centers on a local legend about a heartbroken woman named Mary, who died in the hotel after her fiancé, "Klondike Ike," went searching for gold in the Yukon and never returned. Mary is considered one of Skagway's most famous ghosts, with the story detailing her locking herself in her third-floor room and succumbing to despair and death. The ghost is said to be Mary, the heartbroken fiancée of a man named "Klondike Ike". Klondike Ike checked into the Golden North Hotel with Mary before heading out to find gold in the Klondike. He never came back, and Mary was devastated. According to legend, Mary locked herself in her room on the third floor of the hotel and eventually died there from grief. Her ghost is reportedly seen and felt within the hotel, particularly on the third floor.
