Nancy Mountain, Haines Island
Nancy Mountain on Alabama's Haines Island is said to be haunted by the spirit of a Civil War-era woman named Nancy, who searches for her son. According to legend, after hearing her son was killed in the war and that his body was never found, she would walk the mountain trails each night with a lantern and a pail of water, hoping to find him. Nancy eventually died, and her house is said to have crumbled and disappeared. However, her spirit reportedly remains, continuing her nightly search.
