The Moundville Archaeological Site is reputed to be a real haunted place, with some visitors reporting paranormal experiences. Located on the Black Warrior River in Alabama, the park preserves the remnants of a significant Mississippian culture that inhabited the area from the 11th through the 16th century. The spiritual energy of this ancient civilization, along with the burial grounds, is often cited as the source of the supernatural phenomena. Some visitors claim to have heard the sound of ghostly drums playing, suggesting a lingering spiritual or ceremonial energy from the ancient Mississippian people who once occupied the site. There are accounts of strange lights appearing at night around the large platform mounds. These glowing orbs or flashes of light have been described by some as potentially paranormal in origin. Archaeological studies of artifacts found at Moundville, such as the Willoughby Disk, suggest that the people had a strong belief in the underworld. Symbols like a hand with an eye in the palm were thought to represent a portal to the "other world," a concept that contributes to the site's eerie reputation.
