The Kali Oka Plantation (also known as Oak Grove Plantation) in Saraland, Alabama, is described as very haunted, with reports of a ghostly white woman lighting candles in windows and a 7-foot-tall Black man walking the grounds, believed to be the former bodyguard. Its legend is also tied to "Cry Baby Bridge" on Kali Oka Road, where the cries of a drowned baby are said to be heard. The most common account describes a ghostly white woman seen lighting candles in the windows. She is believed to be the former wife of a plantation owner. An apparition of a very tall man, often described as a Black man and a former slave, is said to walk the grounds of the property. He was reportedly a groundskeeper and bodyguard. Connected to the plantation's history, the bridge on Kali Oka Road is haunted by a baby. Legend says the plantation owner's wife gave birth to a child who later drowned. The baby's spirit is said to be attached to a nearby bridge, leading to it being called "Crybaby Bridge". The property is not open to the public, though it is rented for weddings and events. The property was used for exterior and interior shots in the horror films Dead Birds (2004) and Hayride (2012).
