Cooley Cemetery, Guntersville
Visitors have reported seeing orbs and strange lights at the graveyard. It is also rumored that if you drive by on Friday the 13th your car may stop dead in its tracks and will have trouble starting again for about five minutes. Nestled in a scenic area, the cemetery is characterized by its beautifully maintained grounds, which feature an array of trees and lush greenery that enhance its peaceful ambiance. The cemetery serves as a historical archive, showcasing the resting places of many locals and offering a glimpse into the area’s rich past. The oldest dated tombstone on its grounds is from after the Civil War, but there are also many unmarked graves in the area as well. Every so often a mysterious mist will cover the tombstones, but not the surrounding woodlands, and a cold breeze has been felt on even the hottest summer days. Visitors have seen several spirits, including a young Native American boy, and older man walking with his dog, and a bearded man dressed in a Confederate uniform.
